Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force – Iraq
SOCCENT Official Communique

In the wake of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’s regime overtaking large swaths of land of the middle-east, NATO has set in motion for the United States and Kurdistan to begin reclaiming territory once belonging to the Iraqi people, known as a province called Diyala.

SEAL Team THREE has been deployed to the province to conduct operations clandestine in nature, accompanied by the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, the 75th Rangers (3/9), and Amphibious Squadron 8 located in the Persian Gulf.

1.) 06JUL16 – 24th MEU is handed control of Khan Bani Sad Air Base from the Iraqi forces.
2.) 09JUL16 – 24th MEU, Hotel Company captures FOB Al Jaarah.
3.) 14JUL16 – 24th MEU, Foxtrot Company captures FOB Ashaqif.
4.) 17JUL16 – ISIS/ISIL Forces engage Kurdish Peshmerga in Kahn Bani Saad, capturing surrounding area and oil refineries nearby.
5.) 20JUL16 – ISIS/ISIL Forces engage a marine patrol near Rasheed. US Forces withdrew with minimal casualties.
6.) 28JUL16 – Kurdish Peshmerga engage ISIS/ISIL forces while receiving supplies from an unknown paramilitary organization. Peshmerga seize all supplies.
7.) 01AUG16 – ISIS/ISIL Forces spotted en-masse harassing the general populace. Reports of government officials being killed in the streets.
8.) 13AUG16 – US SOF engages ISIS insurgents in a firefight during the escort of a high ranking USMC officer. Officer was extracted, minimal casualties.
9.) 21AUG16 – US SOF conducts a cordon and search in the nearby town of Al Zahraa in an attempt to detain Muhammad “Pretty Boy” Maraad. US SOF successfully captured codename “Pretty Boy”, and extracted him safely with minimal casualties.
